Schooling
in Malta is compulsary, starting at the age of three and ends at
the age of 16. The primary school consists of two kindergarden years
(3-4 years), Classes 1-6 (5-10 years). At 11, there is the option
of either a Junior Lyceum leading to further studies or Area Secondaries
leading to technical skills' teaching. Private and Church-run schools
are also widely available.
Vocational, technical and higher education-oriented schools are
available. The University of Malta has a variety of courses available
for the 18-year old students embarking on their first degree. Post-graduate
studies are also available. The University welcomes applications
from overseas students.
