Malta records lowest labour taxes in EU, high VAT rates

The overall tax-to-GDP ratio which reflects the sum of taxes and social contributions in % of GDP in 2011 in Malta stood at 33.5%, the lowest in EU when compared to 39.5 per cent in the Eurozone and 38.8% in the EU, Eurostat figures announced today.
