First couple married by mayor (Times of Malta)

Marlene Formosa and Yamen Bakry became the first ever couple to tie the knot in a wedding officiated by a mayor yesterday in Gozo. The law allowing mayors to preside over weddings was introduced some two years ago but nobody had made use of it since.
