Malta's former prime minster Dom Mintoff dies at 96

VALLETTA (Reuters) - Malta's former socialist prime minister Dom Mintoff died at his villa near Valletta on Monday. He was 96. Mintoff, known for his confrontational style and fiery speeches, dominated the political scene on the island for more than half a century before and after its independence from Britain.
